Abstract: We report the synthesis of the trifluoromethyl cobalt(iii)tetraphenylporphyrinato complex [Co(TPP)CF3], which loses fluoride upon one-electron reduction and transfers a difluorocarbene moiety to n-butyl acrylate to produce the corresponding gem-difluorocyclopropane.
