Abstract: Abstract Oxidative condensation of three p‐phenylenediamines with 3‐hydroxy‐2‐methyl‐N‐(phenylamino)benzene gives new coloured aposafranones. 2‐Methylresorcinol is easy to convert into the asymmetric building block 3‐hydroxy‐2‐methyl‐N‐(phenylamino)benzene with aniline.
