Abstract: Abstract A DMAP (4-dimethylaminopyridine) catalyzed cyclization of methyl 2-alkynylbenzimidates has been developed, which affords 3-methoxy-1-methyleneisoindoles with excellent Z-stereoselectivity under mild and transition-metal-free conditions.
