Abstract: By arylation of 2-methyl-3-acetylfuran via the Gomberg–Bachmann reaction 5-(4-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)-, 5-(2-nitrophenyl), and 5-(4-nitrophenyl)-2-methyl-3-acetylfurans were synthesized.
