Abstract: A solvent (2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) vs ethyl alcohol (EtOH)) switched synthesis of quinolines and pyridines is illustrated from (E)-2-(1,3-diphenylallylidene)malononitriles via a Pd(II)-catalyzed photochemical process.
