Abstract: Triethylamine-promoted cycloaddition reactions of N-phenacyl and N-alkoxycarbonylmethylbenzothiazolium bromides with aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile (ethyl cyanoacetate, pivaloylacetonitrile) in ethanol afforded functionalized tetrahydrobenzo[d]pyrrolo[2,1-b]thiazoles in good yields and various diastereoselectivity.
