Abstract Some thermodynamic and physicochemical properties of N-alkyl-pyridinium bis((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl)imide ([CnPY][NTF2], n = 4, 6, 8) ionic liquids (ILs) were investigated through inverse gas chromatography at temperatures from 333.15 K to 373.15 K. A total of 23 solvents were used to compute the specific retention volume and Flory–Huggins interaction parameters. The Hildebrand solubility parameters of three ILs were calculated based on the solubility parameters of probe solvents. In addition, the enthalpy values of vaporization of the ILs were obtained based on the Hildebrand solubility parameters.
